While assisting Indonesians injured in the 2004 tsunami, personnel aboard the hospital ship USNS Mercy received OTM® cookies and hundreds of notes of support. Mercy staff shared their taste of home with their patients.

All hail Operation Thin Mint Sendoff!!
More than 1000 Girl Scouts, military personnel and communty supporters gathered on the USS Midway carrier deck to celebrate sending 194,762 boxes of Girl Scout Cookies and thousands of handwritten notes of support to U.S. Military overseas. The event concluded with a group of top-selling Girl Scouts taking flight on a helicopter.

During a free ceremony aboard USS Midway, 1,400 Girl Scouts, military personnel and community supporters celebrated sending the one-millionth box of Operation Thin Mint® cookies to deployed U.S. military personnel since 2002. A U.S. Coast Guard MH-60 Jayhawk helicopter airlifted a pallet of Girl Scout cookies from the Midway deck, San Diego Mayor Jerry Sanders welcomed guests, and the Girl Scouts who sold 2,007 boxes of cookies in 2007 arrived by helicopter.
